Regular Route

The first is for individuals who hold an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college in English, mathematics, social studies, or biological science. Individuals who hold a degree, or its equivalent, in one of the above content areas may earn an MAT for teaching middle grades (5-9) language arts, mathematics, science, or social studies. They may also pursue certification to teach secondary (9-12) English, mathematics, or biology. Individuals may also earn dual (5-12) certification to teach middle AND high school content.
