Option 6 Alternate Route

Option 6 Alternate Route

The second track is for individuals who hold bachelor degrees for an accredited college and desire to teach students with special needs. Those students can earn an MAT focused on Learning and Behavior Disorders (P-12)

In the 2000 legislative session, the Kentucky General Assembly provided potential educators a new route to certification that allows completion of the preparation program with concurrent employment in a school district. A candidate receives a Temporary Provisional Certificate and participates in the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program (KTIP). The candidate must complete all requirements within three years and pass all required assessments prior to entering the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program. Persons interested in this option should contact the Midway College Teacher Education Division Chair at 859-846-5811.
